In 2018 we developed a new online youth media program called Project CODE which is an acronym for (Community Outreach Digital Entertainment). Our program are designed to inform and educate young people of the daily issues facing other young people living in the borough and of current issues that may effect themselves, their extended family’s or community’s. Our videos were designed to enable young people to better communicate any issues or concerns they were having and give them a supportive place to air their views and find out new information and where they can go to seek support and also enable them to have the knowledge and experience to pursue different careers.
The aim of this action packed program is to amplify the voices of young people in the effort to inform policymakers, compel public action and highlight issues that young people care about. Our team will do this by reaching young people in their own social environment through our media workshops and our new mobile vox-pop’ interview booths, which will work with young people aged 11 to 25 who live within the boroughs of Enfield and Haringey. Ourwill support, develop and empower hard to reach, marginalised, disaffected & disengaged young people to talk about any issues that affect them or just simply say what’s on their mind. Through original online content, Vox Pop video interviews, YouTube episodes and short films that delve into the broader issues that the young people are facing.
Each of our episodes will be designed to shake things up, shouting out about the things that matter to young people, enabling us to tell powerful stories of personal and social change through digital media without compromising on hard-hitting journalistic stories. Allowing us to develop much more creative, culturally relevant & appropriate responses to young peoples needs for example (preserving local history, educating residents about their area, documenting opportunities available for young people and providing information which improves the quality of life for young people in our local community.) All of the episodes will be shared on our new website, as well as our Tumblr, Facebook and Twitter pages.
